Fire Protection

5.1 Fire Protection: All requirements of fire protection through classification of buildings based on occupancy, type of construction, and other requirements shall be in accordance with the IS-1642-1960 Code of Practice for Safety of Buildings (General); material and details of construction, and other relevant provisions of the National Building Code with latest amendments.

5.2 Electrical Installations: The electrical installations in the buildings shall be carried out in conformity with the requirements of the Indian Electricity Act, 1910 and the Electricity Rules, 1956 as amended from time to time.

5.3 Structural Design: The structural design of all the buildings shall be in accordance with the relevant provisions of the B.I.S. Code and shall be certified by a recognised Structural Engineer and shall be submitted along with structural Safety Certificate for buildings having more than 3 storeyed structure and for buildings upto 3 storeys only a structural safety certificate shall be submitted.

5.4 Plinth Level: The plinth level shall not be less than 1 '-6" or as may be specified by the competent authority from time to time.

5.5 Roof: The construction of every roof shall conform to the material and specifications as are specified in the Punjab Public Works Department specifications.
